Royal Brackla

Creating a whisky experience you could play

Royal Brackla wanted to create a premium experiential installation for events in South Korea—an interactive cask wall that invited visitors to engage with the brand through sound, light and touch.

Working alongside Mesh Marketing, Delightful Tech provided technical consultancy from concept through to manufacture, transforming the creative vision into a robust, production-ready experience.

From concept to reality

Our involvement began by assessing the feasibility of the concept and consulting on how visitors should experience the installation. Working closely with the creative team, we designed the complete user journey, ensuring every interaction felt intuitive, responsive and encouraged exploration.

Delightful delivered the project’s UX and interaction design, bespoke electronics, embedded software, sensor integration, lighting behaviour and rapid prototyping before producing the manufacturing-ready electronics.

Building the experience

The installation transformed a wall of whisky casks into a collaborative musical instrument. Each cask responded instantly to touch with synchronised sound and lighting, allowing multiple visitors to create evolving musical performances together.

To bring the experience to life, Delightful Tech collaborated with internationally recognised composer and musician Jon Baker, creating bespoke compositions inspired by Royal Brackla’s three core whisky expressions. By translating flavour notes into music, visitors could experience the character of each whisky through sound as well as taste.

A dedicated configuration application also allowed installers to assign audio, adjust lighting colours, calibrate sensors and commission the installation without modifying firmware, making each deployment quick and flexible.

Supporting international manufacture

Following successful prototyping, Delightful supplied the production electronics to Uboat, the specialist fabrication partner in China, supporting manufacture and ensuring seamless integration into the finished installation.
